Apr 2011 C-MUG on What's New in Data Center Technologies
Dr. Pete Welcher (CCIE #1773 and CCSI #94014) will be discussing What's New in Data Center Technologies on April 26, 2011. He will look at newer technologies that the network and datacenter engineer may not be familiar with including:
  • FabricPath (a L2 routing technology that can be used to safely support large datacenter VLANs while eliminating Spanning Tree blocked ports.)
  • Fiber Channel (FC) / SAN (areas that network engineers have rarely had to work with, since the large shops with SAN networks typically have had a dedicated engineer)
  • Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE is a technology that offers reduced NIC adapter and cabling costs by transporting data and SAN traffic over 10 Gbps Ethernet.)

In addition, Shannon McMackin from Cisco Systems will provide an update on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS). This next-generation data center platform accelerates the delivery of new services simply, reliably, and securely through end-to-end provisioning and migration support.
